York County looks to Lancaster for rep in new 11th Congressional District

A Lancaster County resident will represent a large swath of York County in the new 11th Congressional District.

Jess King, a Lancaster nonprofit director, was unopposed on the Democratic ballot, securing 22,794 votes.

She’ll take on Republican Lloyd Smucker, a first-term incumbent currently representing the 16th Congressional District.

The West Lampeter Township resident garnered 34,002 votes to challenger Chester Beiler’s 24,063 to take the GOP nomination.

In late January, the state Supreme Court imposed a new congressional map that split York County between the 10th and 11th districts.

The 10th joined the northern part of the county with part of Cumberland County and all of Dauphin County, while the 11th now covers the southern part of York County and all of Lancaster County.
